Hello Ben & Patricia: My grandfather (back 9 generations) was William Winborn (also spelled Winborne, Wenbourne, Winburn etc.) who came to New England in the early 1600's from Sussex. He was married to Elizabeth Wen and thet had a son John Winborn born in 1635. I am very interested in exchanging information and I have information from early colonial days to present time. May I hear from you? Respectfully, Bob B. Winborn

Hastings site earmarked for Gypsies - Sussex

From hastingslocalradio.co.uk

Hastings Council has earmarked a dedicated site for Gypsies and Travellers on fields behind woodland at the junction with Crowhurst Road and Queensway.

The Council has submitted an outline planning application for the site. Nearby residents have voiced their concerns over increased litter and crime if the application is approved. Colin Dormer has the details.

My Maternal Grandmother was a 'Crowhurst' Annie Olive born in Fulham. I have been told that the Crowhurst name comes from the village either Sussex or near East Grinstead. Originates from Roger de Crowhurst and or Rupert de Crowhurst
